Dr. Tiffany Lewis, SOAR Academy Director

 

Dr. Tiffany E. Lewis hails from the picturesque city of Cuthbert, Georgia, nestled in Randolph County. A devoted mother to her son, Virgil Jr., Dr. Lewis has carved an impressive path in both the business and education sectors.

Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Fort Valley State University in 2006, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in February 2009. In June 2015, she achieved a significant milestone, earning a Doctor of Education degree with dual concentrations in Organizational Leadership and Human Service Administration from NOVA Southeastern University, along with a Distance Education Certificate.

Before venturing into the field of education, Dr. Lewis accumulated over a decade of experience in the business industry, showcasing her skills in Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, Human Resources, Supervision, Purchasing Coordination, and Training. Additionally, she shared her knowledge as an Adjunct Instructor at Virginia College of Macon for three years.

Driven by a quest to fulfill her life's purpose, Dr. Lewis transitioned to public education in 2017 as a non-traditional teacher at Westside High School. Over the past seven years, she has embraced various roles, including CTAE Department Chair, FBLA Advisor, Special Education Lead, Youth Build Program Manager, After School Coordinator, Saturday School Administrator, and currently, she serves as Assistant Principal/Director of SOAR & VIP Academy.

Dr. Lewis continuously strives for excellence and expanded her leadership capacity. She presented at the Georgia Educational Research Association Conference in 2015, served as the Emancipation Proclamation Ceremony Speaker in 2017, and earned recognition as a Top Forty under Forty candidate by Rural Leaders Magazine. In 2020, she completed the CTAE Lead Cohort in the Bibb County School District, and in May 2022, she accomplished the APEL Educational Leadership Certification Program. Notably, Dr. Lewis presented at the National Alternative Education Association Conference in Tampa, FL, in October 2023.

An active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Dr. Lewis finds joy in her spare time by exploring new destinations, cherishing moments with family, and engaging in home improvement projects. As she passionately dedicates herself to students in alternative education, Dr. Lewis considers it a privilege to contribute to the school community daily, emphasizing the significance of the collaborative efforts of faculty and students.

Dr. Lisa Thompson, Interim  Assistant Principal

 

Dr. Lisa D. Thompson has been an educator for 25 years. She started as a full-time Science substitute in an alternative school for pregnant and parenting teenage girls. She achieved her teaching certification at the Master's level, then moved through her education achieving two Specialist degrees (Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership), and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. As a certified educator, she held many positions in traditional and non-traditional schools: department chair, PBIS Coach, RTI Coach, Science Instructional Coach, Educational Support Specialist, and Assistant Principal. After serving as an Assistant Principal at Westside High School for five years, she brings her expertise and experience to SOAR/VIP Academy, working with teachers and students to build maximum capacity.
